Dear all,

We are sad to announce that after nearly seven years of fun and frivolity with a generous helping of inconvenience, Plans & Apologies will, shortly, be no more.

We would like to say a massive thank you to anyone who ever showed us support, gave us a gig, bought our records, released our records, played our tunes in clubs and on the radio, pirated our records and generally enjoyed what we’ve done over the years. We do this with heavy hearts but there are many reasons why we’ve come to this mutual decision. The last couple of years have been testing, both band-wise and personally but when all is said and done we’ve had a fucking brilliant adventure, like the Goonies. It’s been the longest releationship any of us have ever been in, too bad it was a seven way sausage party.

We’re going to keep our recordings available through this website and on iTunes and such like for as long as possible. Our new album, The Bassett Hound & The Icy Ground, will be available shortly and we’d love it if you could buy it. Check back here for details on the release.

The 5 remaining members of P&A will be back in some form, though details for most projects don’t actually exist yet. Dan and Jamie are working on their new band FUNfun as we speak, and the other 3 morons will probably cook something up at some point.

We will be playing the forthcoming show at the Royal, Derby with You Slut! and Amusement Parks on Fire. Following that, our last gig EVER is tentatively penciled in for the 25th of October. Details are sketchy at the minute but we will update this post when we know what’s going on there.

Again, we’d like to stress how thankful we are to all of you that have been supportive in any capacity.

From the heart of our bottoms and the bottom of our cold, black hearts,

Dave Williams aka French Dave Williams, Mallard The Wonderdog, “Harry” Fleshpins, The Reverend Mustafa Clements, Chaka David and Pliers

Jamie Cattermole aka Roland Antonelli, Alfie Pintsworth, Hogjaw Twaddle, Jabeen E Weenie, Jamie Nail

Dan Wheeler aka Dan Wheeler, Wilson Pleasant, Rex Marium, Severage Kyoto, Wheelie Drillbitz

Robin Newman, aka Not on the first album, Talcum Buffalo, The Julio Shebang, Tony Sausage(s), Phillip Head-Screwdriver

Stephen Mansfield aka Mansfield, Truman True, Herman Pimpenhoe, Derek Cocopops, Manly Knives

Michael Salmon aka Miikhul,Miikhul ‘Promark’ Dastardly, Schmiikhul, Kahlua Mikalua, Hot Rod Jig

Daniel Beizsley aka Beizsley, DJ Beatzley, Ken Beizsley, Fanangle Squeezley, Tool

PLANS & APOLOGIES

Monday 22nd September, 2008

******************************************************************

Plans & Apologies are a six piece band from Derby in der mitte England. As part of the music media's hopeless pursuit of the perfect pinpoint pigeonhole in one, Plans & Apologies have been described as sounding like The Wedding Present, The Smiths, The Kinks, Pavement, Belle & Sebastian, Blur, Gang of Four, Captain Beefheart and the Super Furries. But then you don't really need to know that cos you can listen to us all over this page. Be sure to check out the FREE downloads over there on the left! Head over to our website for a more detailed, over indulgent biography. Yup yup.

"One of the best indie bands in the world" Huw Stephens, Radio One

"Seriously, what's more manic: the singer trying to work in as many syllables as he can, as if the band's started the van without him, or the overstimulated guitar that sounds like a Slinky running down stairs at full speed? "Two Left Feet" is a tightly wound coil that sounds like it's ready to spring open violently." Pitchfork Media

"Playing gorgeous lo-fi pop one moment, then bashing out some mental riffage the next, these indie poppers are backed by a Stephen Malkmus-style lyrical charm" NME

"Here is a group which has spiky, sharp, intelligent, unruly, thoughtful, spontaneous, creative energy with obvious signs of nascent lyrical genius." Drowned in Sound
